assessments
Assessment is the process of gathering information to aid in the evaluation of students. Why do we need to evaluate our students? How we will know if we are reaching goals we set for our students and ourselves. All assessments do not need to be formal written tests. I do believe you can evaluate how students are learning by using several informal assessments also. Journaling, class participation, or oral presentations can help assess students. Since No Child Left Behind is an important topic these days, assessments will be a priority for school districts. Teachers feel the pressure to make sure their students perform well. We need to always keep the student the center of our goal.

Safety
It is amazing to me in our society today how much we have to worry about being sued. Whether it is copyrights, showing movies, student safety, or anything you might say that might be twisted around to make a case in court. It is a shame. Not only do we have to worry about protecting our students, but we need to concern ourselves with our protection. I thought the example John used about the Umbrella Insurance was interesting. I was just told I should purchase it for a teenage driver in our household, never did I think I would need it for me. I hope the it will change in the future.
